This is my latest quilt. I have based the design on a photo of the heat signature of a volcanic explosion on Venus. The quilt is made of batik fabrics so the coloured blocks have threads of other colours in them just like the original picture.
The design is based on the traditional Amish design - 'Trip Around the World'. I bought a leaflet for this design a number of years ago and have waited to use it until the right fabrics and ideas came along.
Making the panel was more of a mathematical challenge then a straight forward piecing one! The triangles in the border are folded strips and they stand away from the blue band.
This quilt is in the new exhibition at New Mills Original.
